George & Dragon at the Dart Music Festival

The Dart Music Festival is usually held over the second weekend of May and in numerous different venues all around Dartmouth and attracts great support from enthusiastic local residents and visitors alike and brings the whole town together in Party Mood!

Our large, paved Beer Garden makes for a superb musical event in the Spring and Summer sunshine, plus there are also our large umbrellas if the weather is not so kind (but we will keep our fingers and anything else available well-crossed for the sunshine to turn-up for most of the event at least!).

The Dart Music Festival includes almost every type of music from individual artists, and singer-songwriters, to gospel choirs; from pop, rock, blues, and reggae bands to full orchestras, and from sea shanties to jazz and even opera.

The Dart Music Festival is centred from the organiser's office adjacent to the Main Stage of the bandstand in Royal Avenue Gardens – right on the banks of the River Dart – and conveniently less than 300 metres (2 minutes level walk) from the G & D! Over the weekend it is great fun to visit different venues and see your favourite bands, or find something new, which is always possible if you look at the huge programme of events all around town over the 3 day weekend. You can sit down comfortably at the G&D, inside or outside as you prefer, and the weather dictates, for refreshment from our festival menu, or just a rest and a drink in between, or indeed whilst watching our own Live Music, hopefully in the Beer Garden

As the event is now such a ‘must-do’ for locals and visitors from all over the UK and even much further afield, everyone is advised to arrange their local accommodation well in advance and wherever possible to use the Park and Ride Buses and Taxis throughout the festival periods, as the car parks are soon filled or used for organisers and performers vehicles, plus the local roads are not the widest (to say the least!) and the whole town can easily become grid-locked - despite the best endeavours of the organisers and the authorities to keep traffic moving.

In previous years there have been visitors from all over the UK, plus far further afield in Europe including from Ireland, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, and Poland. There were even some people who had timed their visits to the UK from much further away to specifically coincide with the Dart Music Festival, with people coming all the way from New Zealand and Australia, and North America, both the USA and Canada. So, whatever your reason for coming to the Dart Music Festival, you can be sure of a friendly welcome all around Dartmouth, and especially here at the G & D – Good Music, Good Food and Drink, in a great location to relax with all the different DMF events.

For this years line up at the G&D Garden Stage, please see our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/gandddartmouth which will always have the most up to date information.
